Beat The Urge ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device:

• Session history (urge ratings before/after, duration, mode)
• Clean days progress and session dates
• App preferences (selected mode, duration settings)
• Quiz answers from onboarding
• Journal entries (your reframe inputs and AI responses)

This data is stored locally using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers. You can delete this data by uninstalling the app.

AI Reframe Mode:

When you use the Reframe feature, your text input is sent to our backend server to generate a personalized response using the Claude AI API. This request is stateless — we do not store your input or the AI response on our servers. The response is saved locally on your device only.

Analytics Data (PostHog):

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app experience. This includes:

• App events (session started, session completed, feature usage)
• Device type and operating system version
• App version
• Anonymous session identifiers

We do NOT collect:

• Your name or email address
• Precise location data
• Personal identifiers
• Content of your reframe sessions

Purchase Data (RevenueCat):

If you make a purchase, RevenueCat processes the transaction. RevenueCat may collect:

• Anonymous user identifier
• Purchase history and subscription status
• Device identifiers for purchase validation

Payment information is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the app experience
• To generate personalized AI reframe responses
• To track your progress locally on your device
• To analyze anonymous usage patterns and improve features
• To process and manage subscriptions

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with:

• Anthropic (Claude API) — Processes reframe text inputs (stateless, not stored)
• PostHog — Anonymous analytics
• RevenueCat — Subscription management
• Apple — App Store purchase processing

Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 24 months for product improvement purposes. AI reframe requests are not stored on our servers.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete all local data by uninstalling the app
• Request deletion of analytics data by contacting us
• Opt out of analytics (contact us for instructions)

Children's Privacy

Beat The Urge is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17.

Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. All data transmissions use HTTPS encryption. AI reframe requests are authenticated and rate-limited.
